“Turbio — Dance of the Betta Fish” is an ink drawing inspired by my deep fascination with betta fish, creatures that have always mesmerized me with their almost unreal beauty. Their undulating forms, their endless veils, and their theatrical way of moving in the water make them small, mythical beings, delicate and ferocious at the same time.
Painting them in ink was an exercise in letting myself be carried away by the flow of the water, by the stains that expand like gills, feathers, or suspended thoughts. In this drawing, I tried to capture that feeling of mystery, of depth, of something that remains hidden beneath the surface—the murky , the not entirely visible.
I've always dreamed of owning betta fish someday, creating a small aquatic sanctuary where their colors and movements become part of my studio. This piece is, in a way, a glimpse into that desire: a window into the vibrant calm they bring me.
It's part of my Inktober 2025 , a month in which I explored emotions, symbols, and creatures that resonate with my inner world.
