“The Magic I Waited For Every October” is an ink drawing inspired by Hocus Pocus — one of those movies that marked an entire millennial generation, including me.
For many of us, October didn't officially begin until the Sanderson sisters reappeared on screen: dark, theatrical, funny, magical.
As a child, I awaited that movie with almost ritualistic excitement.
It was my annual gateway to a world where fantasy coexisted with humor, where the gloomy could be beautiful, and where strangeness was, in a way, a superpower.
Over the years, its exaggerated aesthetic, its dramatic gestures, and its mysterious light remained in my artistic imagination, like a hallmark that still influences my ink works today.
In this drawing I wanted to capture that spirit:
the hair that looks like a flame, the pose full of presence, the perfect mix between the comical and the unsettling.
The ink, with its dense shadows and blurred edges, allowed me to convey that witchy, theatrical and somewhat nostalgic aura that has accompanied me for decades.
This piece is part of Inktober 2025, where I revisited memories that continue to shape my adult creativity.
