“The Light that Reveals the Body” is my fine-tip marker version of one of the paintings that has most moved me since I became an artist: The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp , by Rembrandt .
Every time I look at that painting I feel something like a tremor:
the way Rembrandt illuminates the skin, how he directs our gaze, how he transforms a scientific act into a profoundly human scene.
It is a painting that breathes, that beats, that murmurs a story in every wrinkle, in every shadow.
When I draw him, I enter his universe. I focus on the smallest details:
the position of the fingers, the weight of the gesture, the almost theatrical tension between life and death.
With the marker, I follow the lines like someone following an ancient thought.
It's not about copying, but about engaging with Rembrandt's vision , about trying to understand how he was able to put soul into the technical aspects and emotion into the inevitable.
This piece is part of Inktober 2025 , where I revisited masters who have shaped my sensibility. And Rembrandt, with his way of revealing humanity from the shadows, has always been one of my silent guides.
