The Daughter of the Sacred Grove – Original Oil Painting
(Inspired by Princess Mononoke)
This painting stems from a question that has always been with me:
What part of us continues to protect what we love, even when no one is watching?
Princess Mononoke is, for me, one of Studio Ghibli's most powerful films. San embodies strength, instinct, untamed beauty, and a profound connection to something that is fading away: the ancient heartbeat of the forest. While painting this piece, I wanted to capture that moment when the spirit protects, observes, and confronts the world from a place of silence and determination.
I worked the oil paint as if it were living skin: layers, textures, highlights over earth tones and deep greens. I sought that blend of fierceness and tenderness that defines San, that balance between humanity and spirit. Each brushstroke is a declaration: nature also breathes, feels, and remembers.
It is not a reproduction, it is a personal interpretation.
A unique piece that speaks of identity, courage, and that indomitable part that we all have inside.
