⭐ Totoro and the Tree That Awakens

This summer I ventured into the forests of Holland to find inspiration for this collection. The intensity of the greens, the light filtering through the leaves, and the profound sense of calm transported me directly to the landscapes of My Neighbor Totoro . There, surrounded by nature, I knew I wanted to interpret this film through oil painting, working with the same vibrant and luminous palette I remembered from childhood.

I've always been fascinated by the magical relationship the two sisters have with the forest spirits: that blend of innocence, imagination, and mystery that only Ghibli can convey. While painting, I kept returning to one of my favorite scenes: when Totoro, along with other guardian spirits, sends the camphor tree soaring into the night sky. That feeling of wonder, of protection, and of absolute trust in nature is at the heart of this work.

This oil painting is a personal interpretation, not a literal illustration: a unique piece created to capture the spirit of the forest, the energy of Totoro, and the magic of that world that exists between reality and fantasy.
