Voy a iniciar este blog hablando la relación de dos artes: la danza y la pintura.
Seguramente sepas que la danza ha sido fuente de inspiración para muchos pintores y también pinturas han sido el arranque de coreografías extraordinarias. De alguna manera aunque sean disciplinas bastante diferentes, parecen llamarse mutuamente.
Ahora quiero repasar contigo alguno de los artista más notables que pintaron la danza.
Aquí voy a mencionarte a pintores como Henri Matisse, Edgar Dégas y Teniers y Sorolla. Estos pintores tienen distintos estilos y nacionalidades, ¿Pero qué tipo de danzas representaban? ¿Por qué estos artistas eran atraídos hacia la danza?
I am going to start this blog by talking about the relationship between two arts: dance and painting.
You probably know that dance has been a source of inspiration for many painters and paintings have also been the beginning of extraordinary choreographies. Somehow even though they are quite different disciplines, they seem to call each other.
Now I want to review with you some of the most notable artists who painted dance.
Here I am going to mention painters like Henri Matisse, Edgar Dégas and Teniers and Sorolla. These painters have different styles and nationalities, but what type of dances did they represent? Why these artists were atracted to the dance world?
Si piensas en pinturas famosas representando la danza, posiblemente te venga a la cabeza La dans de Matisse. En la composición se encuentran cinco personas en corro bailando y llama la atención la paleta de colores fauvista, con fuertes rojos, verdes y azules. De hecho el dinamismo de esta obra es muy atractivo: sus colores representan la vida (rojo), la naturaleza (verde) y el cielo (azul). También el corro transmita esa sensación de grupo. No sé como lo percibes tú, pero yo casi puedo ver el corro moverse.
If you think of famous paintings depicting dance, Matisse's La dans may come to mind. In the composition there are five people in a circle dancing and the Fauvist color palette is striking, with strong reds, greens and blues. In fact, the dynamism of this work is very attractive: its colors represent life (red), nature (green) and the sky (blue). The circle also transmits that group feeling. I don't know how you perceive it, but I can almost see the circle moving.
Puedes pensar también en Edgar Degas,y como el ballet inspiró a sus pinturas. A Degas le encantaba el movimiento y los preciosos trajes de baile. El artista visitó sobre todo ensayos en el principal teatro de París, e hizo un estudio de movimientos específicos de ballet invitando a las bailarinas a su estudio de pintura. Él experimentó con diferentes medios como óleo, acuarela y pastel.
You can also think of Edgar Degas, and how ballet inspired his paintings. Degas loved movement and beautiful dance costumes. The artist primarily visited rehearsals at the main theater in Paris, and made a study of specific ballet movements by inviting ballerinas to his painting studio. He experimented with different mediums such as oil, watercolor and pastel.
Y ahora te acompaño a los Países Bajos. En La feria de los Granjeros "Boerenkermis", de David Teniers (II) los aldeanos están de celebración. Esta pintura de la Edad de Oro de los Países Bajos, no falta la comida, bebida y música. La escena muestra al pueblo representando bailes populares de la época.
Sin duda estas pinturas son un documento único para descubrir el estilo de vida en aquellos años en los pueblos del Norte de Europa.
And now I accompain you to the Netherlands. In The Farmers' Fair "Boerenkermis", by David Teniers (II) the villagers are celebrating. This painting of the Golden Age of the Netherlands, there is no shortage of food, drink and music. The scene shows the town performing popular dances of the time.
Without a doubt these paintings are a unique document to discover the lifestyle in those years in the towns of Northern Europe.
De las pinturas más famosas de Sorolla está su Visión de España, encargadas para la Spanish Society en Nueva York. Se trata de 14 cuadros, dos de ellos con la danza como protagonista: Aragón.La jota y Sevilla. La danza. En el caso de Aragón, pinta más concretamente la zona de Java, retratando el traje de ansotana. con los Pirineos de fondo.
Of Sorolla's most famous paintings is his Vision of Spain, commissioned for the Spanish Society in New York. There are 14 paintings, two of them with dance as the protagonist: Aragón.La jota and Sevilla. The dance. In the case of Aragón, he paints more specifically the area of Java, portraying the ansotana costume. with the Pyrenees in the background.
Y luego está Sevilla. El baile. En esta serie dedicó cuatro cuadros a Andalucía, y el de Sevilla lo dedicó a las sevillanas, claro que sí. Representa un conjunto e mujeres envueltas en los mantones de manila. De este cuadro el movimiento y el color son muy llamativos, yo diría espectaculares, ¿A tí no te dan ganas de unirte a la juerga?
And then there is Seville. The dance. In this series he dedicated four paintings to Andalusia, and the one from Seville was dedicated to the Sevillian women, of course. It represents a group of women wrapped in Manila shawls. The movement and color of this painting are very striking. I would say spectacular. Don't you feel like joining the party?
Y aquí es donde la danza hace su magia. Estas pinturas de Sorolla fueron usadas como inspiración por El Ballet Nacional de España en 2013 cuando Antonio Najarro como director. El montaje representaba los cuadros de Sorolla y toda la compañía representaba esos cuadros que Sorolla diseñó para mostrar el folklore español.
And this is where dance works its magic. These paintings by Sorolla were used as inspiration by The National Ballet of Spain in 2013 when Antonio Najarro as director. The montage represented Sorolla's paintings and the entire company represented those paintings that Sorolla designed to show Spanish folklore.
También en España, concretamente en Madrid, la compañía de Cristiane Azem coreografía las pinturas de Frida Kahlo, así como el análisis de su vida y de la pintora como personaje. La directora sumerge al cuerpo de baile en flores y bordados mexicanos y defiende una de las coreografías con bata de cola.
Also in Spain, specifically in Madrid, Cristiane Azem's company choreographs Frida Kahlo's paintings, as well as the analysis of her life and the painter as a character. The director immerses the dance troupe in flowers and Mexican embroidery and defends one of the choreographies with a bata de cola.
